Local Artist Jason Valencia Captures Balloon Fiesta’s Magic Within His Pueblo-Style Customized Art.
Albuquerque, NM – The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta has released the fan-favorite collectible item, the Official Balloon Fiesta Serigraph Poster. Balloon Fiesta has been working with artists since 1979 to bring amazing works of art in the form of our official serigraph poster.
This year’s edition was designed and painted by Jason Valencia, a local Native American born and raised in the Pueblo of San Felipe, New Mexico. Valencia is a self-taught artist who started painting in 1998, working with acrylic paints to create his Pueblo-style customized art.
Valencia’s artwork for the 2025 Balloon Fiesta poster depicts a collection of hot air balloons in flight, each adorned with distinctive Native American-inspired designs and patterns. Traditional Pueblo patterns are integrated into the balloon envelopes, reflecting the cultural diversity of New Mexico. Valencia continued the tradition of including a hidden roadrunner in the poster and used bold, earthy colors typical of Southwestern art, including turquoise, red, yellow and black.
Valencia is a proud father of five children and loves teaching youth about his art, hoping they will be inspired to carry it on into the future. Jason’s authentic, colorful and inspiring art has been showcased at the Southwestern Association for Indian Arts (SWAIA) Santa Fe Indian Market; the American Indian Arts Festival at Autry Museum in Los Angeles, CA; the Heard Museum in Phoenix, AZ; the Cherokee Art Market in Tulsa, OK; and many more local events.
Valencia is excited to be this year’s poster artist, as this poster not only commemorates the annual Balloon Fiesta but also honors the artistic traditions of New Mexico’s Native communities, making it a unique and meaningful piece for 2025.
