The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta® offers Concessionaires the unique opportunity to sell to a captive, on-site audience of hundreds of thousands of people.

Our guests are typically upscale consumers, and we strive to select the highest quality Concessions to provide them with the level of goods and services they expect. With over one-third of a mile of Concession spaces, you could be one of the select Concessionaires to provide these desired products.

All completed applications will be considered and
are not accepted on a first come, first served basis.

City of Albuquerque Fire Permit

Accepted Concessionaires are required to complete and submit a City of Albuquerque Fire Marshal’s Office Permit Application:

New Mexico Taxation and Revenue

Accepted Concessionaires are required to submit a valid and current dated State of New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department Registration Certificate noting their NM Business Tax ID Number (GRT/BTIN)

  • Out of state Concessionaires should apply for a temporary registration filing status, noting the dates of the event (October 3-11, 2026). You must check “YES” to the special event question.
  • If you are an out of state Concessionaire who participated in Balloon Fiesta and held a temporary special event permit for last year’s event, you will need to reactivate the same ID for the event this year.
  • Concessionaires that already have a NM Business Tax ID Number must log in to their online profile to obtain a current dated, valid Registration Certificate.

City of Albuquerque Business Registration Certificate

Accepted Concessionaires are required to submit a current and valid City of Albuquerque Business Registration Certificate.

  • Concessionaires that hold a year-round certificate must submit a copy of their current and valid City of Albuquerque Business Registration Certificate.
  • Concessionaires that do not already hold a City of Albuquerque Business Registration Certificate must apply for one via the online link. Payment is required at the time of application.
  • Any Concessionaire applying for a temporary business registration will be required to upload a copy of their current, dated registration certificate with accurate business details issued by the NM Taxation and Revenue Department.

City of Albuquerque Environmental Health Department Temporary Food Permit

Accepted Concessionaires selling food/consumable items are required to complete and submit the associated Temporary Food Permit Application. Once you click on the application link, scroll down the page to “Temporary Food Establishment Permits.”

USDA Food Defense Guidance

Accepted Concessionaires selling food/consumable items must refer to the USDA Food Defense Guidance for large scale special events.

Certified Food Protection Manager / Food Handler Card

Accepted Concessionaires selling food/consumable items are required to submit proof of Certified Food Protection Manager or a valid Food Handler Card for the Person in Charge.

All food employees must be trained on basic food safety by the Person in Charge or be in possession of a food handler card. Everyone working within the booth is encouraged to hold a food handler certification (State Food Safety is one example of an accredited course).

Each booth shall be responsible for keeping and providing training records to EHD staff upon inspection.

Insurance Requirements

Accepted Concessionaires must provide insurance certificates for each coverage listed below. Insurance policies and/or insurance cards are not acceptable.

Insurance certificates must be current and valid from 9/22/25 through 10/15/25 and must be received no later than August 15. Concessionaires are not permitted to check in or begin setup until all insurance certificates have been received.

General/Product and Premises Liability Insurance

Concessionaire agrees to have in full force and effect for the full duration of Balloon Fiesta, product and premises liability insurance against all claims or causes of action, or damages, including attorney fees, arising out of the sale of Concessionaire’s products/services or Concessionaire’s use of the space in Balloon Fiesta Park, providing coverage reasonable and satisfactory to AIBF, including products-completed operations coverage.

The following coverage amounts are required:

  • Merchandise Concessions: $1,000,000.00 per occurrence / $2,000,000 aggregate
  • Commercial Food Concessions: $1,000,000.00 per occurrence / $3,000,000 aggregate

The following must be named as additional insureds on the product and premises liability insurance:

  • AIBF and its directors, agents, employees, contractors and volunteers, 4401 Alameda NE, Albuquerque, NM 87113
  • City of Albuquerque Risk Management Department, PO Box 1293, Albuquerque, NM 87103
  • City of Albuquerque Parks & Recreation Department, PO Box 1293, Albuquerque, NM 87103
  • Kawa Management, LLC, 6619 Suerte Place, Albuquerque, NM 87113

Workers’ Compensation Insurance

Concessionaire agrees to have in full force and effect for the full duration of Balloon Fiesta, a workers’ compensation insurance policy in the minimum amount of $500,000. Concessionaire shall provide AIBF one of the following:

    • A certificate of such insurance with stated amounts thereof, OR
    • An affidavit that they are exempt from NM workers’ compensation insurance and an agreement to indemnify AIBF from any liability resulting from a workers’ claim

Please contact the Concession Manager for a Workers’ Compensation Verification Addendum if needed.

Automobile Insurance

Concessionaire agrees to have in full force and effect for the full duration of Balloon Fiesta an automobile liability insurance policy in the minimum amount of $100,000 per person / $300,000 per accident for each motor vehicle Concessionaire uses at Balloon Fiesta Park.
