Balloon Fiesta Announces Music Fiesta
Country Superstar Darius Rucker to Perform Last Saturday of Balloon Fiesta
Albuquerque, NM – The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta® (AIBF) has announced that country music superstar Darius Rucker will headline the 2013 Music Fiesta on Saturday, October 12. A Balloon Fiesta first, the Music Fiesta will feature four separate performances after the morning Mass Ascension and before the evening Night Magic Glow.
The 2013 Music Fiesta provides Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta guests a new event to complement the main attraction of hot air and gas balloons. Darius Rucker, country music star and former lead singer/rhythm guitarist for the band Hootie & the Blowfish will be the lead performer of the concert scheduled for the last Saturday afternoon of the Balloon Fiesta. Joining Rucker for the concert is local singer-songwriter Bob Farrell, Derryl Perry out of Nashville and Charlie Worsham, whose current single “Could It Be” is in the Top 20.
Rucker’s career as a country music artist started in 2008 with the release of the album Learn to Live. From this album he achieved several singles that charted as number one on the Hot Country Songs charts including “Don’t Think I Don’t Think About It,” “It Won’t Be Like This for Long” and “Alright.” He released a second album, Charleston, SC 1966 in 2010 which includes number-one singles “Come Back Song” and “This.” In 2013 he released his third album titled True Believers featuring singles “True Believers” and chart-topping “Wagon Wheel.”
The festival will begin at noon and conclude with Rucker’s performance, which starts at 4 p.m. Tickets are available through www.balloonfiesta.com and at Balloon Fiesta Park gates. Advance tickets will cost $20 plus a $2 service fee. Tickets purchased at the gate will cost $25. Guests’ Music Fiesta tickets are also valid for that night’s Night Magic Balloon Glow and AfterGlow fireworks presented by the Albuquerque Journal.
