    At a noon briefing today (Sunday, October 4), race officials announced to America’s Challenge pilots that the race originally scheduled to launch last night will not be rescheduled. 

     

  • Saturday Evening America’s Challenge Launch Cancelled

    The launch of the 14th America’s Challenge race for gas balloons scheduled for tonight (Saturday evening, October 3) has been cancelled. Winds at Balloon Fiesta Park are too strong and gusty to permit the balloons to launch safely. There will be a pilot briefing for the America’s Challenge pilots at noon tomorrow (Sunday, October 4), at which time further plans for the race will be discussed. Check the Balloon Fiesta Web site, www.balloonfiesta.com, for further updates and live tracking of the balloons’ positions once the race begins.

    Weather conditions look very good for launch of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta’s America’s Challenge race for gas balloons at 6:30 PM this evening (Saturday, October 3 at 0030Z) at Balloon Fiesta Park.

    The nine teams competing in the 14th America’s Challenge race for gas balloons are busily evaluating weather information and making final preparations for the race. Conditions look promising for a launch on schedule tomorrow night (Saturday, October 3) at around 6:30 PM (0030Z) from Albuquerque’s Balloon Fiesta Park.
