ALBUQUERQUE, NM—Sept. 12, 2003—The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta today announced the creation of Holiday Fiesta, a 21-day celebration for the whole family. Throughout the month of December, the public is invited to Balloon Fiesta Park, Wednesday-Sunday evenings, to view holiday light displays, experience nighttime glows of hot air balloons and take pleasure in extraordinary fireworks.
“Every year, Balloon Fiesta guests and participants leave the October festivities wanting more,” explained Paul Smith, executive director of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. “This year we are excited to add Holiday Fiesta and hope to create another fantastic Albuquerque tradition.”
Starting on December 3, Balloon Fiesta Park will be open for sleigh rides and both drive- and walk-through tours of holiday light displays. Santa will have a workshop where kids of all ages can create special gifts and everyone will enjoy carolers and refreshments at Mrs. Claus’ Kitchen.
Nighttime glows will take place on Christmas Eve, and on Fridays and Saturdays throughout Holiday Fiesta. On Saturdays, Fireworks will be added to the festivities.
Admission to Holiday Fiesta is $5.00 per person with children 12 and under free of charge. Admission to the drive-thru light display is $5.00 per car. Corporations and other organizations are encouraged to contact the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta to arrange private holiday parties at Holiday Fiesta.
